Visteon is supplying optional driver awareness systems for the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country. Visteon's Blind Spot Monitoring System supplements exterior side-view mirrors, and its Rear Cross Path System can warn drivers of oncoming vehicles when backing out from a parking spot. Both technologies will be part of an interactive display at the Chrysler exhibit during Convergence 2008, Oct. 20-22 at Cobo Center in Detroit, Mi.

The blind spot system detects when moving vehicles are adjacent to the driver's vehicle. When the driver looks to the side-view mirror prior to an intended lane change, an illuminated icon indicates that there is a vehicle in the driver's blind spot. The driver is not distracted by alerts for stationary objects that don't pose a threat.

The Rear Cross Path System is a parking lot aid that detects oncoming vehicles that might be blocked by cars parked on either side of the driver's vehicle. The driver is alerted by an icon in the side-view mirror in addition to an audible alert.
