Crown Telecom selects Motorola module for Brazilian road support network

Brazilian telematics provider Crown Telecom (www.crowntelecom.com.br) has selected Motorola (www.motorola.com) to provide the wireless core of a telematics solution for Volkswagen (www.volkswagen.com.br) passenger vehicles manufactured for the Brazilian market.

Brazilian telematics provider Crown Telecom has selected Motorola to provide the wireless core of a telematics solution for Volkswagen passenger vehicles manufactured for the Brazilian market. The solution will allow communications between vehicles, drivers and support centers.

Motorola's G24 GSM and GPRS wireless module is a cellular engine that will allow Volkswagen drivers direct access to Crown Telecom's 24-hour support. Volkswagen's drivers will be able to call and receive assistance based critical information transferred by the vehicle in real-time. The telematics box provides for recovery of stolen vehicles; online vehicle monitoring; traffic jam and potential hazards notification and alternative routing; assistance in the event of accidents, and the ability to order movie tickets while on the way to the theater.
