Rated at a nominal 2.3V, the PC5 ultracapacitor, an extension of the company's PowerCache product line, provides a capacitance of four Farads in a package weighing 5.5g and measuring only 17 mm x 24 mm x 4.5 mm. Offered as a small, long-lasting solution for sizing an energy source to meet overall power requirements, the capacitor can be used in tandem with batteries for applications that require both a constant low-power discharge for continual function and a pulse of power for peak loads.
It is claimed that the PC5 relieves batteries of peak-power functions resulting in an extension of battery life and a reduction of battery size and system cost.
