Battery Charger Boosts Solar Panels' Efficiency

Oct. 1, 1999

Said to deliver up to 25% more dc power to solar electrical system batteries from photovoltaic panels, the Power Advantage 30 battery charger increases power to the batteries, maximizes power from the solar panels, increases overall solar system efficiency, and lowers the total cost of ownership. Using firm's Power Advantage II technology, the charger finds the maximum power point of the solar panels and constantly readjusts for changes in sunlight, temperature, and battery voltage. In addition to providing 30A of output current to deep-cycle lead-acid batteries commonly used in solar systems, this system has a powerful processor that monitors energy production, energy consumption, battery utilization, battery temperature, and illumination of the solar cells.
