Maynard, MA: SiCortex licensed MIPS Technologies’ industry-standard, 64bit architecture for its new generation of high-performance, low-power Linux teraFLOP computers. The SiCortex SC5832 is an enterprise-class computer that features more than 5800 MIPS64 processors, 8Tbytes of memory, and 2.1Tbits of I/O.

By using power-efficient MIPS cores in system design, end users—particularly supercomputer users—could hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in energy costs. More important, it enables extremely dense packaging, which boosts performance. This power saving is critical to supercomputer users.
