The MAXQ3180, a poly-phase IC for measuring electrical activity, integrates an eight-channel ADC and a MAXQ microprocessor for computing a broad set of poly-phase multifunction energy metering parameters. Six input channels handle the three phase voltages and their three currents. One channel is performs neutral line current monitoring, and the eighth channel is for on-chip temperature monitoring. The device interfaces with a host microcontroller through the standard SPI protocol. It provides reactive and power-factor measurements, ampere-hour measurements, plus peak current and voltage measurements and gives instantaneous power for peak demand calculations.
