Embarking as the latest member of the dual-channel subscriber line interface circuit (DuSLIC) family for voice and VoIP-enabled devices, the DuSLIC-xT is an energy-efficient CODEC/SLIC that reduces the overall bill-of-materials by as much as 50% for voice and VoIP systems, including cable modems, analog terminal adaptors, and VoIP terminal applications, . It also promises to shrink the line interface unit footprint by up to 40% when compared to current topologies. The device integrates a high-definition audio interface, which provides a link between a desktop or laptop PC and an analog phone. Integrated features include test and diagnostic functions for loop monitoring, wideband support, and optimized dc/dc-based supply voltage generation and patented balanced internal ringing to minimize power dissipation. The DuSLIC-xT comes in either a dual- or single-channel configuration. Samples and a system design package will be available in July. INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES, Milpitas, CA. (866) 951-9519.
