The 78M6612 is a highly integrated, single-phase ac power-measurement system-on-chip for power-outlet measurement and monitoring. The IC targets OEMs of home-automation products and enterprise OEMs of servers, power supplies, power-distribution units, and communication equipment. Accuracy is ±0.5% over a 2000:1 dynamic range, with self-calibration to help speed design time and optimize manufacturing efficiencies. The device integrates a 32-bit compute engine, an MPU core, a real-time clock, and flash memory. The company’s patented Single Converter Technology, with a 22-bit delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter and digital temperature compensation, supports a wide range of single-phase, dual-outlet power-measurement applications on only 25 mW. Complete firmware is available along with reference designs to enable rapid development of power and energy-measurement solutions. The 78M6612 comes in 64-pin LQFP and 68-pin QFN packages. Sample and production quantities are available now. The device costs $2.89 in quantities of 100. TERIDIAN SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Irvine, CA. (800) 774-9473.
