System Aims To Reduce Cost Of Test For Airbag Ingniters

Sept. 1, 2002

Designed to lower overall test costs, the Model 2790 SourceMeter switch airbag inflator test system integrates sourcing, measuring and switching functions in a single instrument. To further reduce costs, the company has eliminated the need for synchronization between the computer/controller and the Model 2790 and has reduced signal routing complexity. In addition to airbag ignitor tests, the Model 2790 can improve test efficiency and throughput in continuity and hi-pot testing of cables, wiring harnesses and connectors, plus general high/low ohms measurements on a variety of electronic components and materials. Moreover, the Model 2790’s low energy voltage and current sources have been designed to reduce the possibility of device damage while still accurately measuring high and low resistance parameters. Additional safety features include a hardware source interlock and an automatic output cable capacitance-discharge circuit for high-voltage insulation resistance testing. Pricing ranges from $4,995 to $7,995. KEITHLEY INSTRUMENTS INC., Cleveland, OH. (888) 534-8453.
