Batteries Help Shrink Portable Medical Products

June 1, 2001

High energy lithium Pulses Plus batteries are designed to reduce battery size and weight by more than 60% in portable medical products. The batteries are said to deliver higher energy densities, high current pulse handling capacity, and very long life to portable defibrillators, EKG machines and other sophisticated medical equipment. The batteries utilize lithium chloride chemistry, with its safer bobbin type construction, in addition to a unique hybrid layer capacitor to deliver high pulses in a much smaller and lighter package. Other features of the batteries include: high voltage of 3.9V or 3.6V; high capacity, low self-discharge; and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. In addition to medical devices, the batteries can be used in automotive emergency roadside assistance systems, GPS tracking devices, utility meters, and military and aerospace equipment.
