Li-Ion Prismatic Cell Offers High Capacity

Feb. 1, 1999

Claiming the highest capacity in the industry, the prismatic 340948 lithium-ion cell is based on a nickel-cobalt cathode material. The cell, which measures 47.75 mm x 34.2 mm x 8.5 mm, offers high performance at energy densities of 320 Wh/l (volumetric) and 115 Wh/kg (gravimetric). It's been qualified to international safety standards. Features include a high operating voltage- one Li-Ion cell is equivalent to three NiCd or NiMH cells, it's claimed. It also offers a long cycle life and very low self discharge. Applications for the 1200-mAh, 38g cell include mobile phones, notebook PCs and smaller handheld computers and terminals.
