The PulseGuard PGB Series 0805 surface-mount electrostatic discharge (ESD) suppressor provides low-intrusion ESD protection for high-data-rate serial buses like USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, and InfiniBand. With a capacitance of 0.055 pF and an ESD event response time of less than 1 ns, the PGB 0805 ensures a high level of ESD protection without waveform distortion. This four-channel component, with a leakage current of less than 1 nA, can clamp direct contact pulses of 8 kV of ESD energy. Its glass-epoxy package is compatible with current pick-and-place processes. Since the PGB series is electrically bipolar, the system voltage bus can also be used as the ESD discharge path. The ESD suppressor is available in tape-and-reel packaging and costs $0.62 in 10,000-unit quantities.
