The BlueMoon UniCellular chip for Bluetooth wireless applications is three times faster than any classical Bluetooth solution. The single chip supports the Version 2.0 Bluetooth standard as well as the new Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) functionality. In addition, it has extremely low power consumption. It also possesses excellent radio-frequency characteristics, which make it well suited for use in GSM, EDGE, and UMTS mobile phones.

The chip's Enhanced Data Rate functionality will enable mobile handsets with wireless multimedia capabilities to exchange data three times faster within a 10-m personal range. The net data rate, which was previously 721 kbps, becomes 2.1 Mbps. At the same time, the energy budget for transmitting a single bit simultaneously drops by a factor of three. The transceiver features receiver sensitivity of −90 dBm (decibel milliwatts) even in Enhanced Data Rate mode. BlueMoon UniCellular, which is based on Infineon's 130-nm CMOS process technology, has a power consumption that is about 35% lower than the previous generation of Bluetooth solutions.
