For use mainly in ballasts for electronic lighting, especially in 277V push-pull ballast concepts and deflection circuits in small TV sets is the BUF7216, a 1600V bipolar power transistor for high-voltage switching applications. Key features include low switching losses due to dynamic performance and very high-energy capability, which allows additional overvoltage protection circuitry to be eliminated in many applications. The device is assembled in a TO-220 package and has a collector current capability of 2A and VCES higher than 1600V. Samples are available.
