Power Modules Target Industrial Applications

Feb. 1, 1999

The PowerCache PCM150056 is a 56V ultracapacitor module designed for industrial power quality applications. The device uses a series of 28 PowerCache PC7223 ultracapacitor cells for 150 kJ of energy storage with the ability to deliver 12.5 kW for more than 5 seconds in high-power environments. This 95-Farad, 25-milliohm module features integrated control electronics to ensure uniform voltage distribution and circuitry for monitoring of cell voltage. Each module is designed to operate at up to 60V and multiple modules can be placed in series for higher voltages. The PCM150056 module can be modified for hybrid-electric vehicle applications to provide power during acceleration and hill climbing.
