Targeting the shock protection needs associated with miniaturized computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and other small electronic products, the Confor CF-45E foam can be used as shock pads, spacers, snubbers and as acoustical insulation in these products. With no silicone off-gassing, the foam absorbs and dissipates up to 97% of shock energy without recoiling and amplifying the effect.Available in thicknesses of less than 4 mm, this 6 lb./cu. ft. material has a UL rating of HF-1 and a damping loss factor of 1.1 to 1.2 at 10 Hz and 0.3% amplitude in torsional mode. Under sustained pressure, the material will rebound slowly as weight is released. Under direct impact, however, it acts like a semi-rigid foam, resisting collapse and absorbing the impact internally.
