A new lithium battery has been designed in a wide range of configurations for powering RFID transponders used in material handling tracking systems and related applications. This RFID lithium battery comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, with voltages up to 4.1V typical and up to 4 AH/gm energy density, depending on configuration. Combining high energy density, low weight, and low self-discharge rates, thE battery is capable of operating in a temperature range of -40°C to +70°C, depending on configuration, and is said to provide up to 10 years of service. The battery can also be supplied as lithium-thionyl chloride, lithium-sulfur dioxide, and lithium-manganese dioxide chemistries to meet specific performance requirements. Depending on chemistry, the battery can be designed as a coin cell, cylindrical, and other packages. Pricing starts at $0.15. AVED ELECTRONICS INC., Lowell, MA. (800) 441-2833.
