Claiming a breakthrough in residential metering technology, the 71M6523 3-phase system-on-chip employs the company's Single Converter Technology, which eliminates the need for isolating individual phases using multiple regulators and isolation devices. According to the company, this speeds development time, improves meter reliability and performance and reduces overall system cost by as much as 40%. Targeting developing economies, the device also provides an anti-tamper neutral current measurement accuracy of 0.4%, allowing the detection of smaller amounts of energy theft. Other features include advanced power management, a battery-back-up mode, push-button wake-up from sleep mode, and provisions for external communications and I/O.
