Guarding modems, residential gateways, and central office access equipment, the NPxxx series consists of 44 thyristor-based, surge-protection devices available in DO-214AA surface-mount packages and DO-15 axial-lead packages. As part of the secondary protection circuit, the devices provide over-voltage protection by diverting energy away from the circuit to ground. They are UL497A certified and assist in meeting various regulatory requirements including GR-1089-CORE, ITU K.20/K.21/K.45, IEC 61000-4-5, IEC 60950, YD/T 993, YD/T 950, and YD/T 1082. Voltage ratings range from 64V to 350V with surge-current ratings of 50A, 80A, and 100A. The components are bidirectional, providing the functionality of two devices in a single package. Pricing is $0.10 each/10,000. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
