The PIC24F04KA201 low-cost, low pin count family of 16-bit microcontrollers is the latest product to feature nanoWatt XLP extreme low power technology. Starting at less than $0.99 each in high volumes, the microcontrollers have typical sleep currents as low as 20 nA. This low power combined with small-footprint 14- and 20-pin package options make the MCU family ideal for battery-powered and energy-harvesting applications. The key to the 20-nA sleep currents is Deep Sleep mode which isolates power to various circuits during sleep. In addition, the PIC24F04KA201 MCU family has high C-code efficiency and computational horsepower, up to 16-MIPS operation using a 32-MHz internal clock. Both PIC24F04KA201 16-bit family members are available now for general sampling and volume production, with prices starting at less than $0.99 each in high volume.
