The key to the success of 10-Gbit/s Ethernet in data centers and other critical networking environments is super-low latency. Now this can be achieved with Fujitsu Frontech North America’s XG2600 10-Gigabit Ethernet switch. The goal of the 26-port XG2600 is to reduce customers’ overall networking costs while ensuring ultra-low latency and significantly reduced power consumption (see the figure).
The Fujitsu XG family of high-speed Layer 2 switching solutions offers superior throughput, ultra-low latency, flexible interfaces, and extremely low failure rates in a compact form factor, creating an ideal networking infrastructure for video server applications, high-performance computing, and the Internet SCSI (iSCSI) and Networked Attached Storage (NAS) markets.
The XG2600 offers latency as low as 300 ns. It can deliver a total of 520-Gbit/s throughput with its 26 ports. Featuring SFP+ optical converters, the device supports SFP+ twinax copper SR and LR cables, enabling customers to cost-effectively maximize the use of each available port and minimize the overall cost of energy and cabling. The XG2600 also offers field-reversible cooling fans, helping to reduce the cost of cooling. The XG2600 reduces power usage by more than 30% to less than 5 W per port. The low-power, 1U high form factor allows for easy integration into existing networks and system chassis, suiting it for energy and cost-conscious customers. The proprietary ICs Fujitsu uses in the XG2600 are also available to selected customers.
