A slotted infrared optical switch for non-contact interruptive object sensing, the OPB420 Series switch includes an infrared LED and phototransistor with both devices residing in a right-angle plastic package. This configuration allows for an opaque object to block the light beam from multiple directions including the X, Y, and Z axes. The 880-nm wavelength infrared LED specifies a power dissipation of 100 mW and the input diode specifies a maximum forward current of 50 mA and maximum forward voltage of 1.7V (If=20mA). Reverse dc voltage is 2V with a reverse current of 100 µA (Vr=2.0V). Other features include an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Typical pricing ranges from $3.43 to $3.48 each/1,000.
