Employing LEDs with 850- to 880-nm wavelengths and paired with optional ambient light sensors to minimize current consumption, the OPA80, OPA82, and OPA83 series light rings deliver near-infrared light and are available in a variety of ring sizes and configurations. The 12V OPA80 12V and 5V OPA82 include ambient light sensors while the 12V OPA81 comes without a sensor. Available ring sizes include 0.625" ID/1.25" OD, 1" ID/1.75" OD, 1.25” ID/2.0” OD, and 1.5" ID/2.25" OD. The rings may include anywhere from 10 to 24 LEDs depending on voltage rating and ring size. LED types include surface-mount devices with a viewing angle of 100° and 3-mm through-hole packages with viewing angles of 18°. Typical forward voltage for each LED is 1.35V and reverse voltage per emitter is 2V with a continuous forward current of 50 mA and a peak-pulsed forward current of 1A at 1% duty cycle. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C. Pricing starts at $11.75 each/1,000. OPTEK TECHNOLOGY INC., Carrollton, TX. (972) 323-2200.
