Two new compact 4- and 5-mm inductive proximity sensors were crafted to work in concert with the recently developed ultra-miniature M5 (5-mm diameter) connectors. By combining the two, high performance is attainable in extremely tight mounting applications. The sensors feature a supply voltage range of 10 to 30 V dc and a sensing distance of 1.0 mm. They provide a load current of 100 mA, as well as a bright and visible two-point output-state LED indicator. Equipped with fully integrated short-circuit and reverse polarity protection, the sensors also incorporate the latest ASIC and flip-chip technology. Both inductive sensors are encased in a rugged stainless-steel housing that measures just 24 mm long. The housing fits the company's vibration-resistant IP 67 screw-on connector designed with a cap nut measuring just 6 mm in diameter. The inductive proximity sensors, which are available now, cost $89 each.
