The Little Star family of LEDs has a new member: the VLMW711U2U3XV automotive-qualified 1-W white LED, which combines high brightness with a compact package size. The device is designed for a high current drive of 350 mA, and offers a typical luminous intensity of 29,700 mcd. Typical luminous flux is 90 lm. Its SMD power package measures 6.0 by 6.0 by 1.5 mm. The VLMW711U2U3XV features a 60° half-intensity angle and 120° viewing angle. It is compatible with IR-reflow solder processes and is automotive-qualified to AEC-Q101. Preconditioned according to JEDEC moisture-sensitivity Level 2a standards, the lead-free Little Star package complies with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC. The LED is optimized for general lighting, consumer, and other applications with a high luminous flux requirement and as an alternative to incandescent lamps. Typical end products will include street lighting, architectural lighting, general illumination, and automotive applications such as daytime running lights, interior lighting, fog lights, and door-ajar warning lights. Samples and production quantities of the VLMW711U2U3XV Little Star LED are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery is $1.19 each in quantities of 100,000. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (619) 336-0860.
