The Cotco eXtra Bright 465 nm, blue LED relies on emerging InGaN/SiC technology, a process that combines InGaN material with a silicon carbide (SiC) substrate on a vertical chip structure that maximizes total light extraction. The material also incorporates a current-distribution layer that requires just a single wire bond, said to increase reliability. The LED delivers luminous intensities up to 12,000 mcd and is available in 5 mm and elliptical packages and with viewing angles of 15°, 30°, 60° x 35°, and 110° x 50°. Other reported features include high efficiency and reliability. Depending on package, pricing starts at $0.60 each/5,000. MARKTECH OPTOELECTRONICS, Menands, NY. (800) 984-5337.
