Fully RoHS compliant, the MicroLens white LED backlight assembly for 7" TFT LCDs employs patented molded light-guide technology to provide high brightness with fewer LEDs. Depending on the number of LEDs, brightness ranges from 3,500 to 8,000 cd/m2. The assembly is available with phosphor white LEDs, and a RGB version is currently under development. Responsible for high brightness, MicroLens pixel-based light extraction technology uses a process whereby micro-optical elements are molded directly into a light guide and are optimized to deliver more collimated light, increasing the efficiency of the optical system. Pricing for the backlight, which depends on brightness, starts from $7 to $10 each.GLOBAL LIGHTING TECHNOLOGIES INC., Brecksville, OH. (866) 922-4584.
