Indicator and backlighting assignments can both be tackled by three new high-intensity SMT LEDs. Available in blue (TLMB3140), blue-green (TLMBG3100) and pure green (TLMTG3100) styles, the LEDs are expected to make appearances in products such as automobiles, phones, entertainment systems, and office equipment. The InGaN LEDs have luminous intensities of 40, 130 and 180 mcd, respectively, as well as a ±60¡ angle of half intensity. And to ensure even lighting, luminous intensity ratio for each unit is specified at 1.6 or less. The three devices also have a 5V reverse voltage at a 20-mA forward current and come housed in a PLCC-2 package measuring just 2.8 x 2.4 x 1.65 mm high. In addition, a non-diffused lens simplifies backlighting applications and coupling to light pipes. The LEDs are compatible with infrared, vapor phase and wave soldering processes and in 100,000-piece quantities have a starting price of $35 per 100 pieces.
