Backlit Potentiometer Switch Saves Panel Space

June 4, 2007
The SW44515 backlit potentiometer made by Electro-Mech Components provides dual control options—both rotary and pushbutton—to conserve panel space.

The SW44515 backlit potentiometer switch from Electro-Mech Components Inc. offers both rotary and push-on/push-off functionality plus LED backlighting in a compact unit that saves panel space. The DPDT switch lets users specify a value so that at the push of a button the circuit or channel opens at a preset level. The switch is rated at 30 V dc or 120 V ac and 2.0 A resistive or 0.5 A inductive. Standard potentiometer resistance is 10 kΩ ±10%, but the resistance can also be customer-specified. Features include push-on/remain-in/push-off switching, an operating pressure of 32 oz (±16 oz), plunger travel of about 0.24 in., and a rated switch life of 50,000 actuations minimum.

A backlit lens assembly uses two discrete LEDs to light the translucent knob in any of the standard LED colors. The unit weighs less than an ounce and is smaller than 1 in. in diameter. It requires about 3 in. of space behind the panel and mounts with two screws into the front of the panel. Either wire leads or solder terminals are available for connections. The SW44515 costs $29.00 to $35.00 for 1000 pieces, depending on options. Delivery is in 10 to 12 weeks. For more information, go to www.electromechcomp.com.
