Reflective Sensor Perceives Degrees Of Color

Allowing users to detect color differences in liquids or solids, the company's reflective sensor assembly combines a white LED with a reflective color-sensor chip in a miniature plastic housing measuring less than one quarter of a cubic inch. The self-correcting LED illuminates the surface of the object or liquid being sensed, while the color-sensing chip measures the hue, saturation, and luminance of the light reflected from that surface. Processing these values through a programmable algorithm, the sensor has the ability to distinguish between several different colors and intensities. The sensor assembly housing measures approximately 2,704 mm x 17.1 mm x 6.6 mm with a 45.7-cm wiring harness.
