White LEDs Feature Color Temperature Grading

A white light output with a color temperature of about 6500 Kelvins is produced by a series of new LED lamps. The devices use InGaN chips coated with a YAG inorganic phosphor and offer luminous intensities of 2000 mcd for lamps with a 15° viewing

A white light output with a color temperature of about 6500 Kelvins is produced by a series of new LED lamps. The devices use InGaN chips coated with a YAG inorganic phosphor and offer luminous intensities of 2000 mcd for lamps with a 15° viewing angle and 800 mcd for lamps with a 30° viewing angle (both typical ratings for 20 mA forward current). Applications for the LEDs include electronic signs and signals, small-area illumination, legend backlighting, and general-purpose indication. The lamps' 6500K color temperature rating is the same considered by the U.S. television industry to represent "pure white" light. The LEDs include category labels based upon color temperature. Versions are available with and without standoffs.
