The PSS Ws-7.56 wavelength sensor has the ability to determine the wavelength of monochromatic light, emitted from devices such as lasers and LEDs, and determine the spectral peak of light containing many wavelengths. Operating in the range of 450 nm to 900 nm, measurement is accomplished by comparing the light entering two silicon photodiode junctions superimposed upon each other. The top layer junction absorbs the shorter wavelengths and passes the longer ones. The quotient of the two are directly proportional to the incident wavelength. The sensor has an active area of 7.56 mm2 and is housed in a TO-5 case.
