For applications such as ISDN, LAN, modems, telecommunications, and dc-to-dc converters rated up to 3W, the Surface Mount Transformer family includes 10BaseT models that operate at 10 Mbps and Token Ring versions that operate at 4 and 16 Mbps. The transformers are constructed over unshielded twisted pair wires that require a Medium Access Unit that includes filtering elements at the reception and transmission ends of each link segment-the latter is required to assure EMI compatibility and impedance matching of 50 ohms to 500 ohms or to transmitter and receiver chips. The family supports chipsets from most major telecommunications companies.
