A new DIN-rail mountable, 120 Vac equipment power supply protector has been designed to protect sensitive control equipment from damage by external or internal transient voltages. The Mains-Plugtrab consists of two pieces: a hard-wired base and a removable plug. The feed-through terminal block base accepts wire sizes from 24 AWG to 12 AWG. A metal mounting foot makes a secure connection to the rail and opens a short path to ground for surge current, increasing the performance of protection for the equipment. Power is not interrupted to the equipment regardless of plug status. An LED indication on the plug and a NC remote contact on the base give the status of the protection plug. The plug can then be replaced without interrupting power. The Mains-Plugtrab protects against over-voltage from electrical transients caused by lightning, switching operations, utility actions, and de-energized inductive loads. It protects power supplies, PLCs, PCs, controllers and other electrical equipment. For more deails, contact PHOENIX CONTACT INC., Harrisburg, PA. (800) 322-3225.
