    Employing an oval lens, the APED3820 surface-mount LEDs are said to offer 60° horizontal and 35° vertical viewing angles. The wide horizontal viewing light pattern emitted by the LEDs suits them for use as LCD backlights. The crystal clear, 3.8 x 2.0 x 3.2-mm package enhances the brightness of LEDs by reducing their loss of light to the surrounding space.
