Single-Die LED Offers More Efficiency That Fluorescent Sources

Feb. 7, 2007
The P4 LED from Seoul Semiconductor delivers a maximum luminous efficiency of 100 lm/W at 350 mA.

At a maximum of 100 lm/W at 350 mA, the P4 LED features the highest luminous efficiency available with a single die, according to Seoul Semiconductor. At 1 A, the P4 emits 240 lm, making it a brighter and more cost effective light source compared to conventional 70-lm/W fluorescent and 15-lm/W incandescent light options. The company offers two types of P4 products, one that emits 80 lm at 350 mA (typical) and another that emits 100 lm at 350 mA (typical), so users can select the appropriate device for their own application.

The LED gets its high luminous flux and superior reliability from Seoul Semiconductor's patented phosphor and packaging technologies. The device is designed for use in a wide variety of lighting applications and industries, including automotive, flashlights, LCD TV monitor backlights, projectors, home appliances, traffic signals, mobile phone flashes, street lights, decorative and architectural lighting, and general illumination.
