Supplies Deliver Up To 300 W While Saving Space, Weight

Aug. 10, 2007
The RTW series power supplies from Lambda are 50% smaller and 60% lighter than typical supplies with similar ratings.

At 50% smaller and 60% lighter than typical power supplies with the same ratings, the ultra-thin, single-output Lambda RTW series is well-suited for use in size-constrained electronic equipment. The supplies come in 50-, 100-, 150-, and 300-W versions, with sizes ranging from 3.23 by 0.87 by 4.9 in. to 4.72 by 1.57 by 9.84 in. Weights run from 0.64 to 2.86 lb. They accept 85- to 265-V ac inputs at 47 to 66 Hz and are available with nominal outputs of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, 28, and 48 V, which users can adjust for special requirements. Features include overvoltage and overcurrent protection, remote sense, remote on-off, a voltage-adjustment potentiometer mounted on the front panel, and a green output-on LED indicator. Efficiencies are as high as 89%. The series provides power factor and harmonic correction (PFHC) per EN61000-3-2 standards,

The 300-W models accept an external voltage adjustment signal to vary the output voltage. These models also have a master-slave mode, where the slave's output voltage tracks that of the master. Also, a power-fail signal and a current-balance function allow true load-sharing for up to four supplies connected in parallel. For redundant N + 1 applications, external user-supplied diodes can be placed in series with the output of each supply. All of the units can be mounted vertically or horizontally, come with or without metal covers, and include screw-terminal connections. The RTW series complies with the European Union's Restrictions on Hazardous Substances. Also, the supplies have an integral electromagnetic interference filter that meets FCC Class B conducted and radiated specifications. They're approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1 safety standards and carry the CE mark. They come with a five-year warranty.
