Tracking down open circuits, shorts, crossed, reversed and split pairs, and other wiring faults reportedly can be accomplished in a matter of seconds with a new lightweight, battery-operated tester. With the small, handheld tester, the user can quickly read the status, for example, of Ethernet twisted pair cables. Further, by using the Model 240 Remote Network Cable Analyzer's tone generator function with the new Model 240P probe, engineers and technicians can also trace installed cables and locate areas of discontinuity, even when the cables are in a bundle. The probe is equipped with a tone amplifier and an LED indicator that detects audible frequency tones for accurately tracing and identifying wires. The Model 240 analyzer costs $169 and the 240P probe, $59.
