Flexing enough muscle to drive white LEDs and bias LCD panels, the MIC2142 boost regulator takes up little real estate in its SOT23-53 package and requires only three external components. Operating over a 2.2V to 16V input range, the device features a quiescent current of 85 µA and an integrated 200-mA switch.
Driving up to four white LEDs, output voltage can be adjusted up to 22V and fixed output voltage options of 5V, 12V and 15V will soon be available. The device can also be configured for use in SEPIC and flyback applications. Price is set at $1.50 each/1,000.
