Intensities two to five times brighter than the company's previous generation of LEDs are claimed for a new family of AlInGaP light-emitting diodes. The through-hole and SMT devices span a vast array of colors and designs for use in an equally broad variety of applications, including to equip products with illumination, indication, signage, backlighting, warning lighting and signaling.
Employing four-element chip technology, the LEDs are available for emitting red, orange, pure green, yellow, blue or white colored light, as well red/green, red/yellow or yellow/green bi-color light. Other options include: 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 8- and 10-mm diameters; and package variations that include ceramic stems, built-in chrome reflectors, and stove pipe, tapered, dimpled, flat-top, and other types of lenses.
An example of the new high-intensity LEDs is the T-5 dimple lens SSL-LX507DT2SIT, a device that delivers a brightness of 275 mcd (typ.) over a wide, 140° viewing angle.
