The super-luminescent light emitting diode (SLED) D20 family provides what is said to be an unprecedented 17 mW of output power in single-mode optical fibre. The devices also have an optical bandwidth of 40 nm at full width half maximum (FWHM) centered around a wavelength of 1,480 nm, qualifying the SLEDs for use in course wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) test and measurement, as well as medical imaging applications. The first member of the family, SLED1480D20, comes in a pigtailed, 14-pin dual-in-line (DIL) package, with a 14-pin, butterfly package pigtailed version available upon request. Other D20 devices cover 1,300-, 1,400-, 1,480-, 1,550- and 1,620-nm wavelengths with an average single-mode fibre coupled output power of greater than 15 mW.
