Building on the established OSTAR LED family for general-purpose lighting applications, the latest family member offers 30% more luminous efficacy than previous versions. At 420 lumens and an operating current of 700 mA, the component's 6-chip design with lens is reportedly brighter than a 20W, low-voltage halogen lamp. Other 6-chip versions in the family produce 420 lumens with a lens and 300 lumens without, in each case at an operating current of 700 mA and an output of 15W. The 4-chip versions produce 280 lumens with a lens and 200 lumens without, with an operating current of 700 mA and a 10W output. OSRAM OPTO SEMICONDUCTORS, San Jose, CA. (888) 446-7726.
