Measuring 0.55 mm x 2.6 mm x 2.2 mm, the APDS-9300 low-voltage ambient light sensor approximates the spectral response curve of the human eye to deliver accurate measurements. The sensor converts light intensity to digital signals and outputs them via an I2C interface. To simplify deployment, it also integrates a user-programmable interrupt function that enables seamless integration with most digital platforms. Other features include programmable analog gain and integration time, 50/60-Hz lighting ripple rejection, 2.5V input voltage and a 1.8V digital output, and an active power of 0.6 mW typical with power down mode. Pricing for the APDS-9300 sensor starts at $1.20 each/2,500. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, San Jose, CA. (800) 235-0312.
