Groomed for high-power automotive, architectural, landscape, and general LED lighting designs, the CAT4101 low-dropout, constant-current LED driver does not require an inductor and LED current is settable via an external resistor connected to its RSET pin. The LED pin is compatible with voltages up to 25V, enabling the device to drive strings up to 10 LEDs, adjustable to 1A. The device also offers PWM dimming, an instant-on PWM control mode, and thermal-shutdown protection. Available in a five-lead TO-263 package, other features include a low dropout voltage drive of 500 mV/1A. Price is $0.98 each/10,000. CATALYST SEMICONDUCTOR INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 258-5991.
