The HV9919 PWM-managed controller drives LEDs using a buck topology and suits a variety of solid-state lighting applications such as industrial, architectural, signage and decorative lighting, indicator or emergency lighting, and as a general-purpose, constant-current source. Reportedly a highly efficient device, its hysteretic control function maintains output current between a fixed minimum and maximum level at all times, ensuring LED current will not change despite surges to the input. Integral PWM circuitry provides true constant color and a high dimming range. Dimming frequency is programmable via a single capacitor. Available in an eight-lead DFN package, price is $0.55 each/1,000. SUPERTEX INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 222-9883.
