Integrating four 1W LED die onto a single assembly, the OV4Z Optimal IV Star Series star-shaped red/green/blue/amber LED assemblies are available in mono-color or RGBA packages and feature a recessed die design that houses four LED chips under a 5-mm optical-grade, water clear lens. The assemblies achieve a thermal resistance of less than 2°C/W from junction to heat sink. Said to be exceptionally bright, the components suit applications including large signage, interior, exterior and landscape architectural lighting, recreational areas, and specialty lighting. They feature colors of blue (455 nm to 460 nm), green (530 nm to 535 nm), red (620 nm to 630 nm), amber (585 nm to 595 nm), and daylight white. Typical forward voltage at 350 mA ranges from 2.5V to 3.9V for the RGBA assemblies and 8.6V to 13.1V for the mono-color versions while luminous flux at 350 mA ranges from 5 lm to 36 lm and 29 lm to 162 lm depending on color. Viewing angle for both the RGBA and mono-color assemblies is 60°. Typical pricing ranges from $7.78 to $10.37 each/1,000. OPTEK TECHNOLOGY INC., Carrollton, TX. (972) 323-2200.
