The latest addition to the Little Star family of SMD power LEDs is the VLMW711T3U2US, an automotive-qualified 1-W natural white device in a 6.0- by 6.0-mm footprint with a 1.5-mm profile. The LED is designed for a high current drive of up to 350 mA, and offers a typical luminous intensity of 25,000 mcd. Optical efficiency is 60 lm/W and typical luminous flux is 80 lm to 85 lm. The VLMW711T3U2US features a 60° half-intensity angle and 120° viewing angle. It is compatible with IR-reflow solder processes. The LED is automotive qualified to AEC-Q101 and complies with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC. The Little State package is preconditioned according to JEDEC moisture sensitivity Level 2a standards. The device withstands an electro-static discharge up to 2 kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B. The new LED is optimized for general lighting, consumer, and general applications with a high luminous flux requirement, and as an alternative to incandescent lamps. Samples and production quantities are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders. The VLMW711T3U2US costs $1.30 each in quantities of 1000.
