Nov. 18, 2010
The AS3696, a four-channel LED driver IC, is possibly the first such device to include a control mechanism for 3D effects.

The AS3696, a four-channel LED driver IC, is possibly the first such device to include a control mechanism for 3D effects. The IC specifies a channel-to-channel accuracy of ±1% and features an on-chip shunt regulator and safety features including thermal shutdown and open and short LED detection. It also provides a unique power feedback regulation for controlling external power supplies to reduce power and boost system efficiency in LED backlit LCD TVs. Prices for the AS3696 BLU driver in a QFN32 and a TQFP32 are $1.50 and $1.70 each/1,000, respectively. AUSTRIAMICROSYSTEMS USA INC., Raleigh, NC. (919) 676-5292.
