The LT3597 60V, 1-MHz step-down dc/dc converter performs as a three-channel, constant current LED driver capable of powering three independent LED strings, each with up to ten 100-mA LEDs in series. Each channel integrates a constant current sink LED driver with a dedicated adaptive-output buck converter. Achieving efficiencies over 90%, each LED string is independently programmable to deliver up to 100 mA of LED current with +2% current matching between strings. Also, each channel is independently dimmable with True Color PWM dimming, offering dimming ratios as high as 10,000:1. Available in a 39-lead, 5 mm x 8 mm QFN package, pricing starts at $3.95 each/1,000. An industrial grade version, the LT3597IUHG, costs $4.54 each/1,000. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA.
