Thin-Film Battery Attains Commercial Availability

Cymbet has announced commercial availability of its EnerChip thin-film battery products, the first commercial solid-state, highly rechargeable thin-film battery technology for the semiconductor industry. The solid-state battery can be integrated as an embedded device, or as a surface-mounted component.

Considered a "component-class" device, the battery provides energy storage in a form factor and convenience not previously attainable using conventional solutions, such as coin-cell batteries and super capacitors. The device is available in capacities of 12 μAh, 50 μAh and 85 μAh, and can be automatically surface mounted.
